ANMAC IELTS and OET Test Score Changes

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) has announced changes to English language requirements for skills assessments from 1 July 2016.

This is excellent news for candidates in the medical professions (nursing, medicine, physiotherapy, dentistry, radiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, radiography, speech pathology and veterinary science).

The changes will accept an increased testing providers and allow the results from more than one test to be used within specific guidelines.

The following important changes will apply to IELTS and OET test results and will be accepted from 1 July 2016:

IELTS (Academic module)
ANMAC will accept test results from one test sitting OR a maximum of two test sittings, in a six-month period if the applicant achieves:

a) a minimum overall score of 7 in each sitting;
AND
b) no score in any component of the test is below 6.5.

OET
ANMAC will accept test results from one test sitting OR a maximum of two test sittings, in a six-month period if the applicant:

      Hi Yashpreet,

Unfortunately, we do not provide immigration advice or skills assessment advice. You will need to check with ANMAC.

      Kind regards,

    Hi,

I don’t understand the new requirements. Please help me understand.

Do the new requirements mean that I can reach the overall 7 (example: W: 8, R: 8, S: 5, L: 5, overall 7) in just one sitting and it’s ok OR
    in two sittings; example:
    1st sitting: W: 8, R: 8, S: 5, L: 5, overall 7
    2nd sitting: W: 5, R: 5, S: 8, L: 8, overall 7

Thank you very much for your answer.

    Best regards,
    Romina

      Hi Romina,

On the scores you have outlined in your comment, you would not be successful because you have scores below 6.5 (S5, L5, W5 and R5). According to the new ANMAC guidelines, none of the scores can be below 6.5 with an overall score of 7.

However, we can help you at Perfect English IELTS Preparation Centre to improve your Band 5 score results.

      Kind regards,
      Dimitra

    Hi,
How long is an IELTS score valid for ANMAC? I am going to join Bachelors in Nursing at ECU for semester 1 2017 and my current IELTS (Oct 2016) score is 7 overall with S7, L7.5, W6.5 and R6.5). If I get same score again before will my English requirement be met?
    Please advice.

    Regards,
    Alice

      Hi Alice,

Thanks for your query. Technically, your IELTS results are valid for two years as is noted on your results certificate. However, different organisations or government departments may choose to extend the validity of the results. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide advice in relation to immigration or profession registration matters. Accordingly, you will need to contact ANMAC directly to find out about the validity of your IELTS results.

      Kind regards,
      Perfect English IELTS Preparation Centre.
